Comparing bins to a bag is not even in the same sentence.
A bin lasts 50 years or more.
Easy to fill
Easy to empty
You can natural air dry
No animal damage
You're forgetting $80k+ for loading/unloading equipment.
We were around $50k for loading/unloading equipment.
The bag is pretty dang easy to fill and empty.
Grain will be the same when you take it out as when you put it in.
Animal damage can be an issue with bags. Last in and first out.
For overage bushels or in rental situations where the bushels can be up in the air year to year (will you have the ground next year or in 3 years) grain bags can make economical sense vs. a bin.
I have no idea where the OP is located as far as climate and wildlife and the logistics of bagging. But buying $300,000 worth of bins to have half your storage sit empty doesn't make financial sense. |
