One of mine broke a couple years ago.  Fortunately mine had the original tag with the specs in it.  I just went to the local garage door company and they made me a custom spring for sub $100 and then I bought winding bars at the hardware store.  Watched a YouTube video on installing.  Use the vice grips also.  Took about 10 minutes to install.  Zero trouble.
