Sioux County, NWIA | It is possible that the original springs were not of equal sizes. This might happen if the door is an odd size and two matched springs would not correctly balance the door. There is a small amount of leeway in spring sizing so having a precise match is not critical. Winding torsion springs is not rocket science. Use steel rod that fits the winding holes closely but not tightly; 18" long bars will work for smaller single garage size doors. 24 - 30' is nice for bigger springs. Think twice and act once will keep you out of trouble. | |
