WCIL | As far as bin size goes I'd look at the sweep options for the different sized bins. We've got 42, 48, 54 & 60 bins and the sweeps in the 54 & 60 suck as compared to the 42 & 48. They are all hutchinson/mayrath sweeps and the bigger ones came with a set of wheels in the middle to help carry the load which becomes an obsticle to push into the grain. When we put up the 60' 100K bin I was all about going as big as we could at time and now 15 years later I hate that big bin. Always have problems in it. I finally put an amber ag system on it so atleast I get a warning when trouble starts and I can get the fan going remotely so it's not as bad as it used to be, but there's still always a bad spot somewhere in it. If they all got wipped out tomorrow I'd go with 48' and smaller and as tall as I could to maximize space. | |
