Scranton | I tend not to trust the holier than thou I find on the internet or in life. Especially when they do so anonymously. Most of us share our names on this site...at least those of us that expect to be taken seriously.
And yes, rebuttal:
We are stuck with so many taxes to support our rural areas, if they are willing to throw us a pittance, I'm going to collect it. After property, federal and state income taxes, SS, local school income taxes, silo taxes (that get stolen for other purposes), the govt is way way ahead of me. We get screwed because we are asset "rich" and low on actual numbers. And I am "fortunate" to live in a state that has had a couple excellent governors when it comes to limiting rural property tax hikes. I feel for Nebraska and Minnesota farmers among others that are really getting screwed.
Not to mention that the dollars that are thrown our way are a drop in the bucket compared to a) the federal budget and b) the truly large numbers given to different companies, to food stamps, to nearly every budget item down the list. Heck, they were giving Harvard alone almost as much as they were giving farmers, when Harvard has a net worth of nearly $60 BILLION. Now multiply that times all the other colleges that are collecting federal dollars and we are talking about multiples of what 2 million farmers get. That's just one item. I could on and on about the ridiculous billions being thrown at EV's and climate change. And 100 other items.
I also won't go into the fact that we are the world trade pawns.
