Subject: RE: What do you want?

Western Oregon
Wife and I don't need or want for anything. I retired at 55 from city job so have S.S and PERS retirement, wife has S.S. We gave daughter the family home and downsized to a 12'x26' off-grid cabin on our 1 acre former get-away property. Built Son his off-grid dream cabin here. We have a new beach cottage the same size and I have a tiny fishing shack on the river where I spend a lot of time fishing for salmon and cutthroat trout.

We did a 26' Class A motor home for a while after retirement, chasing 70 degrees. Then down sized to a van. State Forest camping changed after the big C, no fun anymore. About all we need is food and clothes, clothes last forever in retirement. Shorts, tee-shirts and jeans, wife in sun-dresses. I am 69, she is 3 years younger. We have spent most of the summer at the beach cottage and day trips up and down the coast in a 2023 Chevy Spark Aktiv. A few overnights in nice motels in the redwoods. One 3 day trip up the coast of Washington State. Doesn't take much these days to be happy, sitting on the deck watching whales is the best life. With very little there isn't much, to worry about. Simple life is the best life. We give the kids a CD each year, the max allowed tax free. We gave most everything away when we downsized. I do a little gardening, all with basic hand tools. Have a small greenhouse to grow what I can for us and son. Have fruit trees and berry bushes. Fish in our pond and at the river. Smoker going a lot when home and keep a fire in the fire pit. Cook mostly over the grate, in decent weather....James
