And this changes the facts, how?

Spain has canceled its F-35 fighter purchase, opting for European alternatives like the Eurofighter and the Franco-German Future Combat Air System, while Switzerland is reconsidering its F-35 order, with lawmakers calling for cancellation, due to escalating transatlantic tensions and U.S. policies, including tariffs and refusal to lock in prices, according to sources like Fortune and National Security Journal. These shifts signal a broader trend of European countries seeking to strengthen domestic defense industries and reduce reliance on the United States.

The facts previously were that EU didn’t spend as much money on defense as they’d pledged via NATO. I honestly don’t know where their “rolling baseline” of US purchases were previously - so whether these potential EU orders were monumental, seismic-shift, incremental increases in US equipment leads me to shoulder shrug.

The BIGGER question remains to the EU by choosing to NOT buy US stuff and rely on EU defense companies and the speed with which those EU companies can spool up production to meet on-time-and-in-full equipment. Because, as the EU has been “scared” of a Putin Russia, the EU hasn’t been exactly meeting timelines to supply Ukraine with pledges. But, maybe they are sacrificing equipment deliveries to Ukraine to ensure their countries get the new stuff first?
