I don't believe ground applications are any more superior either. If you look at most images like Flatflootin's, where coverage was correct, I'm not sure a ground rig would improve over that. As a matter of fact my 25 gpa comment is mostly based off my experiences with Liberty. My rogator at 20 gpa and about 10-11 mph look really good to me, but when I have to slow down to say 7-8 for somthing and I look back at my pattern it starts looking much less impressive. Same scenario at 15 gpa spraying post corn with Callisto, Atrazine, Roundup but looks really bad because there is less total volume to start with. Except those products are systemic and allow for some slack in spray performance, Fungicides are like Liberty, not RU and basically only move around the leaf surfaces they contact. So essentially I believe that I need to over engineer the normal rate at normal speed to make up for the deficiencies caused by ground rigs having to traverse the fields terrain versus the aerial platforms that don't have that limitations. I believe this as well with Liberty. I actually think if you can maintain a steady speed Liberty likely works very well at 15 gpa, but that's not my real world of spraying conditions.
Personally I believe responsibility, more directly fiscal responsibility, would cure a lot of this. Trust me when I spray 50+ gpa of 32% and Thiosul per acre as the only nitrogen source for the year and if I skip, that's a check coming out of my bank account. Makes a guy watch pretty carefully how the equipment is doing, Make these people at minimum return monies for missed acres of application would shock most of them, pay for damages from missed areas would financially ruin more. The problem here is most actually are paying a retailer for this application and the retailer is sub contracting it out. The retailer really doesn't want to talk monetary damages because then they have to try to recoup those from the sub contractor.
