deep SW On. | My retirement plan was to give livestock up to Son along with the rented ground. This yr. I just grew beans & wheat . I still help him but after 50 yrs. with hogs its like being retired
I think what I miss most about the "good old days" is the community, neighbours, visits, having a local school, churchand little community hall .Getting more urban all the time. Up too early 2000's most here were descendents of the original settlers . Now in our original community you can count on one hand the "originals" left. Now its like living in town, really don't know the Mexican & Asian neighbours ,+ a mile away there is the the big greenhouses with bunk houses housing off shore workers on 8 month visa's. This one sits on 300 acre and probably greenhouse covers 200+ acres ,+they have bought more land beside them. Matter of time before they swallow us up,like living next to a city
For the record the new people around here are nice, don't cause any trouble....and I know we will never return to the way it was | |
