| i don`t see how farm programs are "government enforced theft", elected officials overwhelmingly have at least in the past supported a farm safety net. it keeps food safe & cheap, although in the future maybe the American farmer won`t be needed as we will get all our nutritional needs from south america, though the "safe" aspect might not apply.
look at the government student loans, tax benefits for mortgages on homes, subsidized housing, i could go on and on about government programs where the socialism shoe does actually fit. if we get another tranche of farm support money, it`ll only probably delay the inevitable where real corporations control production agriculture, then consumers can kiss their cheap food good bye forever. if general motors doesn`t make money selling pontiacs, guess what, they close down the pontiac factory. farmers started this year with below cost of production prices, we planted anyway. think archer daniels midland would plant knowing they will lose money? | |
