| community organizations like farm bureau board, church councils, elevator board are what you`d classify as smaller/ mid-size farmers, the big guys say "i won`t be a on board that doesn`t pay me" . if the shall we say "bottom third" of farmers are purged i think you could kiss good-bye to local coop elevators. right or wrong the big guys don`t darken the door of a elevator unless their dryer is full, they haul direct to e-plants, feedmills, meal plants which is their right. but if a 1/3 of farms pushed out, some towns would completely dry up, that local coop bin site might be bought by a bto or group of bto`s.
those hoping for a equity drain, some of the 10ยข millionaires might get hurt for sure, but the guy that sold his john deere dealership for $44 million or the farmer with a small seed company that sold to monsanto/bayer would at least privately see an equity burn as a personal opportunity. in the end, one or two of the boys walk off the playground with all the marbles, most go home empty handed.
if public sentiment turns against farm aid ..."farmers driving $100,000 pickups and million dollar combines and i can`t afford a damn pound of hamburger! and they are asking congress for another $20 billion bailout???? no way jose!" maybe the public won`t get what they want either, when real corporations takeover, they`ll let land lay idle if it`s unprofitable, they aren`t stupid as we are farming every foot and babying the crop. farmers will spend $10s of to tear out a grove of trees for 2 more acres that will never pencil out. | |
