| My Grandpa was born in 1909 and farmed with horses, horses had about an eight hour schedule and in the evening the horses were done and didn't want to work anymore. Back in those days there was a farm on every quarter section so grandpa his brothers and the neighbor boys would get together in the pasture and play baseball. The farm Grandpa grew up on recently sold, Hutterites bought it and built a new colony. The Hutterite kids built a baseball diamond and play baseball in the evenings. Things have came around full circle and kids are once again playing baseball on that farm, well over a hundred years later, I'll admit it's nice to see. I have countless stories from Grandparents, Parents, neighbors etc, probably forgot a lot of them. My siblings said we should have written the stories down or tape recorded the old folks. | |
