Back in '88 I was hauling springing heifers to the Greeley, Colo. area and would buy square bales and fill my pot with around 600 or so bales to bring back to Wisconsin. I had one dairyman that bought all his hay tell me that if he raised his own and it was a dry year he would have to buy it anyway, so he just bought all the time. With fuel prices these days though, you can't truck it too far.
Anybody Quit Baling Hay and Just Buy It?
