| It’s gonna cycle back. You don’t need very nice hay equipment to make less than 500 bales. Not so long ago guys were going broke during droughts having to sell off most their herd because buying hay wouldn’t pencil. It’s a lot easier to just pile it up in the good times and sleep at night. I wouldn’t sell a bale today though unless it’s just a favor to someone, seems 5x6 are $50 or less here. About $80 my hay stack is for sale.
I’ve put together enough water ways and stuff there’s no other use for them to supply what I need easily. Take enough custom work that it pays the maintenance, fuel and all the wrap. If hay is high I have enough to sell and actually make money. But there is a lot of time involved with the whole process. The good thing about it here is you can do it in the dark. Though it can be tough to find all the bales when it’s dark.
