Maybe its just me but it seems like cheap hay here is usually low quality first cut and even that this year it doesnt seem like there is alot of it out there. Guess it depends on the situation. I make all my own hay and all my hay ground is rented. Would probably be different if I owned more ground I'd have more of it in pasture and less hay.
