SW WI | Back in my early days and small dairy herd, we contracted western hay since it was better quality at a cheaper price ( our cost of production). It didn’t work exactly as I hoped since the guy writing contracts was a little shady…..but I still think the concept is sound.
Fast forward to now…..if I lost rented land that has hay on it….I wouldn’t lose any sleep. Keep my land in mainly corn production and buy hay.
Take the summer off….or turn your free time into some money making part time gig.
