John Deere made a heavy duty 7ft. hay pickup for the self propelled 5000 series harvesters that would fit the pull types. I have chopped thousands of tons of windrowed forage and feeding was never a problem. Now if you have one of the older 5ft. 34/38 type heads, you got way more chopper than head. The 7ft. head had interchangeable sprockets for fine tuning pickup and auger speeds. Maize Corp. built a 9ft. head of the same basic design that will also work for you.
