I had a similar problem with a C9 Cat and a 3126 Cat. By doing some dep digging in parts books, both engines offered an additional idler with a longer serpentine belt that gave more belt wrap on the fan pulley. It is a stationary idler running on the back of the belt between alternator and fan pulley. Idler used existing threaded hole. Hole was located so idler forced belt downward between alternator and fan pulley.
