Gonna make a comment here. 

Back in "the day" it was much easier to "put kids through College" as the States typically funded a much larger percentage of it. For instance, in the late 1980's the State of MO subsidized tuition and Northwest MO State to the tune of about 86%. Today it's 20% or so. This is true all across the U.S. 

Guys made a lot of money in the 1970's. If you were lucky enough to not have a lot of debt in the 1980's, things were actually not too bad. But if you had much debt, who boy, the financial gloves were off. And, yeah, everything can be down at once. Not saying it will be, but it certainly can be, and spending a couple million dollars to feed hogs for someone else? We used to have 1000 hogs on open lots. I'll pass.
