I started farrowing with 200 sows in 1980. Sold a lot of 40 pound pigs for $40 the next few years. Feed was cheap. Interest was 18% G2 was talking about how much money your grandpa made. We’re talking a long way back from 1980. I don’t know anybody that was getting rich in our grandpas era. Most were just eking out a living. A good share of those were working off farm locally at Oliver and Deere to make ends meet. It was pretty much just skimmed piss with the bubbles off it around here couple generations ago. |
