NW Wisconsin | Understand the opportunity cost but bedpack here is about worthless if you have to truck it... And at the end of the day my biggest concern is the money actually leaving my pocket not just assigned numbers on what it is worth. If your loosing money an acre with opportunity cost does it really matter if you are still turning an acutal profit on it? Im not talking land cost, can argue all day on that subject... Acutal inputs and what you get off that acre. If i can apply 100$ worth of fertility for 40$ an acre i could give a rip about opportunity cost lol. Opportunity cost doesnt pay the bills.
I have my own gravel pit and hauled 100 quad loads up to my new shed. Cost me out of pocket 6800$ but if I were to buy it elsewhere and have it trucked in it would have been 35000$. I can tell you which number actually matters at the end of the day. Or should I give a profit to the land that I took the gravel off of... LOL | |
