Obviously make sure all connections are very tight. I put silicone on them and I don't have a foot valve so very common to prime. I use a harbor freight motor and an old almo milking pump. Then use 2 inch hard water hose from almo pump to a 30 gallon drum with a 1/2 hose to the top side of the pump. Make sure the drum is strong a 55 gallon one will just collapse.
