We make our primers with a cheap 79cc engine from Harbor Freight, an air compressor with hose hooked to air intake side, and a small air tank buffer to catch water before it gets in the compressor.  Can put these together for no more cost than a hand primer.  We try to keep three of these units to have one at each pumping site.
