nc ks | The 8410 is the 4960 of several years ago. Guys were kicking and screaming trying not to change from the rock solid soundguard pinnacle to the drive by wire newer tractors. Well, the 8410 ended up being better than the 4960 in every way except for maybe the armrest controller. 8410's are awesome. I have one that we don't plan on ever selling. Doesn't get that many hours anymore, but is always ready to do whatever. But, even some of the odd jobs it used to do are gradually being taken away from it. If you've ever run a pull scraper with an IVT tractor, you will be hard pressed to hook it to a powershift tractor if the ivt tractor is available.
The main knock an 8410 had on it was the lack of hydraulic flow for big planters and airseeders. Well, the planters are going electric so that isn't as big of a knock. But then the planters are going high speed as well, so do you hook it to the 8410 or to an ILS tractor. Lol. ILS is why the 8410 doesn't get graincart duty anymore either, besides not being IVT. The electric planters do finally give a place for an 8420 with ILS. Never had a use for a 20 series. The 20 series also has the 8.1 instead of the 9L which is a plus imo.
I have contemplated selling my 8410 as it has 6 thousand some hours and nicely kept and the value of it is way beyond its working value, but it is handy to have a tractor with a dozer blade on it ready to go do light dirt work at any time. It will also pull the scraper or the rotary ditcher if it must.
