East Central South Dakota
I will take a stab at your question. We frosted off in May then immediately went into a very hot blast furnace. I believe it set the corn back. Almost every year it is a race to the maturity finish line. Just the way it is. We almost always finish just in time, but sometimes 54 pound corn happens. We are all probably a little guilty of planting corn that is a little big day for our map dot. Its just a farmer thing-trying to get every bushel possible.
