Subject: How and when do gas stations determine their prices?

South Central Illinois
In our little town of 12,000 people.
We go to bed at night and the gas prices are the same across town.
Wake up the next morning and they are at a higher price yet all the stations are the same.
And all my years, I’ve never driven past a gas station while someone was changing the price.
I’ve never seen the price on the sign blink to a different value.
Just curious how that all works?
On the Post side,
A new station, near Interstate with diesel for semi’s was built a couple years ago.
Now they seem to be the trend setter for prices and we’re consistently cheaper than any of the other towns around.
