Probably wants air conditioning, and is probably the age where he kinda gets what he wants. And after this summer of working fields with no working A/C, can't say I blame anyone for digging in their heels on a/c. Lol


My understanding is that the OP doesn't mind the driver idling the truck, but rather the driver doesn't want the truck "repaired" to the extent you won't have potential future emissions issues from idling.

Which is none of the employees business IMO, unless he's paying the bills on said truck. I've never heard of truck drivers being hauled to court because of permanent repairs to emissions systems on trucks the employees were driving.
