First, make sure your aglime is ground fine. Here, different pits have different ECCEs, or the fineness of the ground particle, at least in part. The finer the particles, the faster it will work.
If I was going to use pel lime, I'd maybe band it, with a strip till machine if necessary. That should quickly change the ph around your band of fertilizer.
