Chebanse, IL..... | I am surprised that the management powers @ PF haven't devised a form that a farmer and/or landowner signs allowing access to the fields for the purpose of their magazine goals.
Then, they would only stop & survey the fields that complied. Everyone should feel good about that.
I'm guessing the tour organizers know which fields they want to enter right now. Get written permission first. At the same time, the landowner/tenant would receive a hold-harmless agreement from the ProFarmer group in case of accidents. These access forms would need to be updated annually. If PF wants to reimburse farmer for whatever reason, it should be in print also. If all didn't go well the farmer/landowner could say "no thanks" next year.
It always sounded stupid that we carry liability insurance on farm ground that covers some person trespassing (without permission) the farm on an atv and gets injured somehow can sue the landowner for damages. Stupid.
Anyway, Pro Farmer, why not a signed access form? I am pretty sure PF has people reading this website. If not, they are living on Mars or somewhere more distant. |
