Subject: RE: Red Crown Rot?

Northeast, Nebraska
Red crown rot in soybeans is caused by the fungus Calonectria ilicicola. This fungus survives in the soil as microsclerotia, which are specialized structures that allow it to persist and infect soybean roots. White mold is a sclerotia so pretty close to having the same challenges as we do with white mold. Fungicide is usually one of the methods to fight against it. Currently working on biological control in trials. The university of Nebraska says it hasn't hit nebraska yet but me and a couple of other guys found it and identified it in my field back in 2023. Then after harvest, it showed up in multiple test points of that field on soil DNA tests
