Hooker Twp,Ne | Use to witch for water for people in area. Haven’t tried it since I had my ankle worked on. Started back in “78”. Dad put up a hog confinement and he thought we should have a second well. Got well driller out and he dug seven test holes and no water. I went to neighbors and got a peach branch from his tree. He even whittled it for me. Started walking north of our house and it went down hard for me. The next morning well driller laughed because he didn’t believe in witching but gave into trying where I wanted him to. Bingo. 25 gallon well and it’s still in use today. Since then I’ve done several other that couldn’t find water and have hit unless there was a water line the guy didn’t tell me about. I use number 9 wire now. I’ll walk till wire goes down and place flag. Then I’ll walk about 100 feet turn around and walk back toward flag. When wire goes down place another flag. Move right or left and repeat same process. Do this several times and look at flags and see a stream. Count the feet between flags and that’s about well volume. Had one guys wife wanted a swimming pool. Needed good well. Tried six test holes. Called me and found him enough water and that was 10-15 years ago. Asked me what he owed me. Told him Happy Wife Happy Life. | |
