What we raise is mainly just corn and soybeans. Plant the wheat more on HEL ground. But considering going the 1/3 corn, 1/3 soybean, 1/3 wheat. I dont know what the seed prices will be this fall/spring, but the fertilizer...holly hell. If you have the money to prepay, DAP 900/t, Potash 520/t, tripple super phospate 835/t, Sulfer 650/t. Just basic maintenance will run between $mid 90s to $150 per acre, and thats not including NH3 this fall.
Yeah that’s the real kick in shorts…fertilizer is easily $200/ton higher than last year. I’m still budgeting a profit but it’s definitely being cut by a large margin…assuming an avg crop.
Seriously considering putting on a half rate of P & K this fall and see what January brings. |
