I'm not sure that that is the right attitude. You are "probably" right, that your corn is too far along and disease is not. But we've seen this disease go from a few spots on bottom leaves to 50 percent coverage on all bottom leaves and 20 percent coverage on upper leaves in a matter of days. I'd just keep scouting, but if you have to pull the trigger, don't be stubborn about it. You are still putting on half your yield or more after dent.
