For me, it's a natural part of high functioning soil.

Natures "chelating agent" so a plant can move nutrients

helps make nutrients available from the soil

Food for soil biology.

Since I don't have high functioning soil yet I figured why not copy what high functioning soil does.

Just like racing, do I copy the guy in first, or do I sit in the the group of guys complaining about how much money he spent or he must be cheating...
So do I sit in AG talk and complain about 3 rd pass fungicide and what next years fertilizer costs are going to be, or do I do something about it. Learn from the guys already doing it

If nature can grow a tree in a rock, nature should grow me good cash crops

I keep quoting my test from last year, over 30 lbs N, over 40 lbs P and 7 lbs K was increased on the soil test without adding any NPK. But used biology, stimulants.
