N FLA | I just built temporary containment to figure out what I'm doing. However, is like to build something permanent #1 for function, and #2 for appearance out my back door.
My wife and I joke with the neighbor we have lakefront property, and my wife doesn't want my stuff to block her view of the neighbors lake. I agree with that.
My "idea" is to bring home, home raised, bawlers, contain them for a little bit until they calm down, get them bulletproof for 30-60 days at home, where I sleep every night. Then I can move calves where I grind feed and have 50 acres of good grass and a self feeder. I have been doing this and it works fine for 20 calves or so at a time here. I have just been sending them to market, which also works fine.
But my question....I would like to add another pen/paddock here and have a truck load out and a working pen and squeeze chute. But I can't begin to figure out how to situate it in a small area. Ideally being able to move a squeeze chute in and out on the dolly.
I did learn that all the feed and bedding that goes in must come out. So I'm making more access for my small loader/grapple tractor. My site ended up a lot wetter than I expected. So I'm sure it's much better suited for very temporary containment with pasture grazing.
I don't know if anyone would draw some ideas for me on a napkin or the back of their $100 bills. But I'm just a little lost how to upgrade this.
