Subject: Confinement cows

Northwest Missouri
Where are all the confinement cow calf posts? Where feed costs are at right now I would’ve thought they would be everywhere. Lot of guys doing it or considering it? Or are cows high enough to discourage guys from buying them specifically to dry lot them?

I dry lotted my replacement heifers half the year while we ai them. Probably gonna keep doing it that way regardless of feed costs.

Thinking I’m probably gonna lose some grass next year, if that happens I think I’ll feed those cows on a small grass patch. I’m certain I could feed those cows cheaper than what that grass is costing me anyway. Did that a few years ago with 80 cows on 20 acres when I lost a lease and other than some extra time hauling feed it worked good.
