I'm not sure that we necessarily need them but marketing of kill cows and bulls is an important part of my operation. I could show you many operators in this area that have never sold a kill cow. Shoot there's still cows on farms that probably haven't had a calf in 3-4 years. I guess one could argue the fact that since cows are high sell the culls and hold some extra heifers back to replace etc. There's still a few dairies left in this area and I know some have recently cashed out on the record highs. One could also argue that higher kill prices are helping producers make better decisions in actually preg checking, testing bulls, selling the cow that always raises the dink calf etc. You raise a good question that I'm not sure I could solidly argue either side.
