Alpena MI | We buy a lot of heavies. You may be okay, or you might not. I have the ability to quarantine and get new cattle on feed at their own pace in a pen by themselves. We never put cattle straight on feed anymore, no matter how they look because the risk is to high.
Watch their manure, they will tell you how they are feeling, and maybe put some baking soda or sodium di-cal where they can lick it at will, to help with acidosis. Cattle won't lick it if they don't need it, but they will look for it if acidosis is setting in. If the manure gets watery (looks like colored water) it may be to late to pull the feed back. | |
