Feeding out lambs on a whole corn and pellet program. Its working really well except my lambs eat an awful lot of sodium bicarb. Feed man figures they need more scratch to keep the rumen happy. I would really prefer not to add a hay feeder in the pens. Wondering if there is a way to mix in some scratch with the corn and pellets? Maybe run a bit of hay or straw through a 1/2" screen and add a 100 lbs per ton or so? Is 1/2" long enough to provide scratch? The pellets already have soyhulls in em.
