I understand that, but by your posts, the corn shouldn't have disease issues because the soil microbes haven't been destroyed.


When you say you developed the pasture I have multiple questions. How did you terminate the grass? Did you plow it, do multiple tillage passes, use heavy equipment to do some land leveling to make it farmable? What kind of application did you use to spray for thistles? Did you spot spray or did you spray the whole field? Since it was pasture, what was the fertility like? If you have low fertility, the microbes can't get nutrients into plants and unhealthy plants can't protect themselves. Was it over grazed in the past? Was the ground flooded in the past or too dry? Both affect biology. Just because ground has been pasture forever, doesn't necessarily mean it was healthy soil. If it was resting with no cattle on it, yes it should be healthy if it hasn't been touched. Did you do a soil biology test before you planted it? Too many variables can be there that could have maybe happened but we don't know without testing to see. How was the disease on the soybeans the first year?
