| Cattle haven't been affected coming from Mexico and Canada because they fall under the USMCA agreement for trade. They aren't being hit with tariffs. Yes Mexico has been shut down because of screw worm for now. Looks to me the trade with those two countries hasn't hurt our prices.
However Brazil is being hit with 75% tariffs. Don't think that beef will be coming in under that policy. New Zealand I think is 15%. A lot of Canadian beef coming back into U.S. originally came from U.S. cow calf men sure weren't complaining when they bought their calves.
Is beef really too high? We've reached a new plateau in consumer durable goods price, why not in food? It's about time the farmer gets paid for his investment. Maybe we're reached that point.
I sure wish people had reading comprehension skills and could understand that check off dollars can only be used for promotion. Do I agree with NCBA, nope. But if one producer is charged for promotion, then all producers should pay their fair share.
Edited to add: I've never had a problem with country of origin sticker on any product.
