If it's been pasture, and it's going to get no more management than mowing, I'd leave it. The supplemental feeding will be more fertilizer than it needs, and seeding anything won't work if it's getting trampled and anything half palatable is grazed bare. Just keep mowing the tall stuff and the random thistles in the bare spots.
