 Thumb of Michigan | Without knowing the feed value of the 'grass hay' it might be tough to determine. I've had grass/alfalfa hay that was cut early, that had CP at over 14%. And I've seen grass/alfalfa hay that was put up dead ripe (like this year, where some guys just finished 1st cutting, in August), that tested less than 6% CP.
A hay test costs less than $30 HERE. My thought is test, don't guess. | |
