NCBA is actively promoting against mcool.
Went to a cattleman’s dinner once and they asked if anyone had any questions. I asked why they were against mcool. Got told this wasn’t the place to ask. I didn’t let him off the hook. So I pointed out that there were about 5 feeders there and the rest of the guys were cow calf. I told them they were doing me a favor by making calves cheap but screwing every one else in the room.
The NCBA representative was less than impressed.
You trouble maker you. GO FOR IT. I have never been impressed by NCBA. But when Mad Cow came along and they lobbied USDA to not let one small packer that was trying to kill all Prime and export to Japan could not test their kill for mad cow that was the last straw for me. Japan only accepted meat that was tested, the company was willing to do it to keep the market they had made. The big boys under cover of NCBA put one more competitor out of business. I also lost all respect for local order buyer, part owner of local auction, and big time supporter of NCBA. At some meeting he spouted off putting that company out of business by allowing testing was good for cattlemen in general. |
