Subject: RE: COOL Labeling?

Eastern Ohio
I have been in meetings every other week with Sen. Thunes office for M-COOL. We (R-Calf) are gearing up for a push for M-COOL then moving right into promoting to implement the "Off Act". When M-COOL was repealed, the cattle industry lost $20 billion dollars the first 4 years, the packers also testified in the antitrust lawsuit that "repealing M-COOL gave them the option to buy cheaper and lower quality foreign beef, bring to the US, unpackage and repackage as product of USA". And the NCBA testified to repeal M-COOL saying "BEEF is BEEF whether it comes from Montana, Montreal, or Mazlan". Cattlemen are only asking for Truth in Labeling. An open and transparent forum needs to take place with ALL the cattle & farm organizations to debate these policies and programs, but 4 of the 5 won't show afraid they will be exposed for what they really are.
