West Central Iowa
The older hybrids didn’t have the staygreen the new ones have, and didn’t end up with the kernel size. Now we expect our corn to fill long enough to make 65,000 kernel bushels vs. the old 90,000 standard. The pollination thing is just a simple event going back to an inbred, similar to the southern leaf blight issue. You can name various germplasm failures throughout history.
