Southern rust is blowing up here in ECIL

Has all the thriftiness and durability been bred out of corn and soybeans with the focus on bushels that we can't get a crop correctly pollinated and able to thrive with their natural defense mechanisms any more that we are adding fungicide at post spray and twice during reproduction and still fighting issues in a sanitized environment or are we so good at it that these issues are finally surfacing since we have perfected the rest of the growing process, or is climate change shifted enough outside of the optimal growing environment we have lost plant adaptation? Easymoney was making some really good points ages days ago that weren't well received. Seems our agronomists are bandaid junkies wanting the quick and easy (very profitable) solutions like the ozempic addicts rather than putting in the work to fix the underlying problems.

It's not the breeding or genetics of the corn. It's not that these diseases are getting stronger either. Sit back in your chair and think about your operation and your farming program and what you are concentrating on. Now, don't take this the wrong way or think that I am bashing anyone in any way because I am in the same boat as you guys on my farm. Took me a while to learn what is really going on and it is going to take a while to get it fixed. It's not a 1 year or 1 magic product fix. It takes learning and a little extra time. You can raise really really good crops by row placing nutrients and treating symptoms of diseases. Like easy money says, it is just a bandaid. It's like taking a cold medicine for a cold. It doesn't cure the cold, but it helps you feel better. Just like fungicide doesn't cure the disease, it just eases the symptoms for 2 to 3 weeks. Why have weeds become so much stronger and harder to kill? Why are diseases more common? To find the answer, you have to ask yourself what has changed. The biggest answer to that is soil biology. When was the last time you have focused on soil biology? It is so easy and affordable to get a soil DNA analysis done on your farm. You need to take that information and find out what is missing in the soil. 90 percent of the time, it is the good fungi that is missing in the soil. We have farmed it out of our soils with the products we have been using over the years. Myself included. Just take a few minutes and google the benefits of soil mycorrhiza. Go through that list and see how many things that they help with, that you are having troubles with on your farm. Fungi are the protectors of the plant. They help unlock tied up nutrients and they help suppress weeds. They also help defend and attack nematodes and other pests. Even corn rootworm eggs. You want a 50/50 ratio of fungi to bacteria in your soils. Most tests I run are less than 10% fungal. In fact one of my fields I have ran this year was 5% fungal and believe it or not, it is the field that has the most rust and foliar diseases right now. My email is good if anyone wants to have a discussion about it or I will try to respond on here if you guys want to ask any questions. I am heading to an organic farmer's field for a field day today so it may be this evening before I can respond. Thanks
