Locally, I've heard some of the same attitudes about BQA. I work with a neighbor trading labor. Safety comments are mutually shared so they go both ways. The bqa comments he listens intently to are things that help herd health. Some fit, some don't.
Safety and other best practices are a habit that needs to be nurtured. For me, accidents happen without a thought...or at least afterwards it seems that way. I prefer to make habits that help prevent accidents.
