I wouldnt worry about the shade. Millions of cattle in nebraska an western south dakota dont have a tree to get in, or a tree in sight. Never had shade on any of my pastures and have gotten by just fine.


Could be a fescue thing idk, maybe the annuals wouldn't heat the cattle up as bad as fescue. Here if you fenced them out of shade they'd have tongues out panting like a dog.



Fescue could be part of the issue. Having access to plenty of water sure helps. I would argue we have plenty of humidity, this summer dew points been in mid to upper 70s for last 45 days. Heat indexes in the 105-115.
