If your accumulators got KO'ed you just sold a bunch well above the market price.
I want to talk about tariffs.. pro/con but close this thread down. I figured with my luck.. a post illustrating how the risks of being short increase as prices fall.. the danger of accumulators.. (mine were simple short calls). For instance I could have locked in $5.20 Corn.. for the last of my bin.. but Noooo.. I took the 5.30 accumulator.. and got knocked out in the washout.. I ve got a decent basis locked in.. and they might let me roll forward one of my Dec hedges which would tidy things up.. got about the last 8 loads of 24 crop to price.
So it’s all good.. Should Trump pull a phase 2 agreement with China.. This heat continues to trim bushels.. A settlement of Ukraine War.. stops Russia from puking wheat.. etc.. maybe this thing snaps back?
flip side.. a lot of corn.. some may not be as good as last year.. we’ve got a lot of drown out in spots.. and I’ll probably have to store some cause harvest delivery slots will fill.. with carry over. However, this too shall pass.
The ethanol plant is switching back to corn.. they will run hard with the now lower prices.. Cardinal bought Colwich.. why buy an ethanol plant in high basis Kansas? And this year.. Corn is cheaper here.. now.. than In Indiana.. because Kansas is where you go to find cheap corn!
So we are building demand.. just that domestic blended is down year on year.. where’s E-15 nation wide? And exports are carrying that market.
So Trump administration.. put up.. support ethanol.. or shut up.. face the mid terms with a bunch of pissed off.. immigration raids have support amongst republicans like me down 13%.. do your redistricting in Texas.. instead of flipping red.. it back fires and end up adding to Dems haul..
That would also be bad.. but..in this age.. “nothing surprises me any more.”
Republicans living in Blue states.. Illinois.. Washington State etc.. are mad.
Democrats.. just as mad.. Trump is the devil.
Moderate middle of the road types like me.. “if your paying taxes.. your making money”.. the government set out to find $2 Trillion in waste fraud and abuse.. so far Congress has codified like 9 billion. And some things like USAID.. yes Clinton foundation was grafting.. but.. shutting that down.. and $2 lower sorghum prices later (not ALL because of Aid.. big crop.. Brazilian corn.. but also TARIFFS).. not really saving that much after losing so much tax revenues.
What good is tax cuts with prices a dollar below costs of production? Nobody has a tax problem which needed to be solved now.
